Loch Tay

There’s something special about hitting a milestone birthday surrounded by the people who matter most. For my dad’s 60th, we wanted to do something more meaningful than a dinner or a party — something that brought us together, let us slow down, and gave us the chance to make real memories. So we packed up, headed north, and spent an unforgettable week at Loch Tay.

Loch Tay is one of those places that instantly resets you. The moment we arrived, the stillness of the water, the sweeping hills, and the fresh Highland air made it feel like we’d stepped into a completely different pace of life. It was the perfect backdrop for celebrating a big birthday — calm, cosy, and full of the kind of scenery that makes you want to take your camera out every five minutes.

Being able to photograph our time together made the trip even better. Capturing candid moments — the laughter, the quiet mornings by the water, the spontaneous family antics — felt like a gift. It’s not often that the whole family gets to escape somewhere so beautiful at the same time, and those everyday moments became some of my favourite images from the trip.

But more than anything, this holiday was about Dad. Seeing him relax, laugh, and enjoy the time with everyone was the best part of the whole weekend. It was exactly the kind of celebration he deserved.
